Using this Handbook
This Handbook reflects all key policies and procedures.
If you are unable to find information you require, consult your Supervising Worker.
This handbook will be updated on a regular basis, usually annually unless there are significant changes that require more timely updates.
If you would like to suggest a change to the handbook discuss your suggestion with your line manager in the first instance.
This Handbook contains a local resource section which can be accessed via the navigation bar. If there is a resource that you think should be added talk in the first instance to your manager.
The nominated administrator for this area will be able to access online training in the use of the area from tri.x.
This library is populated and maintained locally and not by tri.x. tri.x will not be responsible for content which is added into this area, and any concerns should be directed to the contact person with responsibility for the procedures.
The handbook is accessed by readers who may find terms that they are not familiar with. Therefore, a glossary of definitions is available under the resource tab.
There is also a National Contacts resource populated with details of key national agencies and organisations likely to be relevant to procedures user.
We have used the following terms and post titles:
Supervising Worker |
This means the allocated worker who is responsible for supervising and supporting you. |
Young person’s social worker |
This means the allocated social worker from the accommodating authority who is responsible for managing the young person's case. |
Accommodating authority |
The local authority that is responsible for placing a looked after child or arranging accommodation for a care leaver in supported accommodation. |
Placement Plan |
This is the documentation drawn up by the young person’s social worker before the placement wherever possible (or where this is not possible, within 5 working days of the placement) which sets out in detail the arrangements for the placement. |
Registered Person |
The Registered Person means the Registered Provider or the Registered Service Manager. |
Registered Provider |
An organisation, partnership or individual who is registered under Part 2 of the Care Standards Act 2000 responsible for carrying on the Service. As a Registered Person, the Registered Provider is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Regulations across all settings in the Service. If the Registered Provider is an individual or partnership, each individual and/or partner of a partnership must meet the fitness requirements for this role. If the Registered Provider is an organisation, the Registered Provider must nominate an individual to be a point of contact for Ofsted. Local authorities can also register as a provider of supported accommodation. |
Registered Service Manager |
The Registered Provider must appoint a Registered Service Manager who is accountable for overseeing the management of all the provider’s settings.The Registered Service Manager must meet the fitness requirements for this role. For some small providers, it is possible that the individual who is the Registered Provider will also take on the role of the Registered Service Manager, if they meet the fitness requirements for the Registered Service Manager. |
